Ivy Green is back from her second year at British Classic Week, at Cowes, with racing organised by RYS. Looking back at my comments from last year, it seems simplest to say that the summary is pretty much the same. So do have a look at last year’s report and thoughts.
Once again we enjoyed the morning sun in Cowes, as we waited for the sea breeze. Then we got a couple of hours racing each day and a sociable evening.
There were fewer big boats than last year, but still plenty to admire. Then a similar gaffer fleet in class 5 and Dorothy claiming victory… again. Other gaffers were Snippet and Merry Maid. Close tacking along the shore always has its moments, but there wasn’t much of that. We’re still not competitive, but that only matters if you worry about it and we have a couple of rig handling improvements in hand.
There are plenty of photos on the event website. If you find the close up of our bowsprit, I can assure that no harm was done to anyone, or anything, involved!
