Welcome to the first online Solent newsletter. It’s a year since we launched our new website. We hope it is helping you to plan your gaffer sailing. Please do tell us if you have any suggestions for improvements.
With 2025 and the turn of the year firmly astern, we hope that everyone is planning ahead for a full year of gaffer sailing. There’s plenty going on around the Solent.

A few recent highlights:
30+ Gaffers gathered in Winchester for Sunday lunch and our AGM at the end of November, including the award of our trophies.
Then in January the sail repair workshop at Bucklers Hard, was well attended.
A healthy Solent contingent made the journey East to the National AGM just last weekend. We were well hosted by the East Coast gaffers with tours of Harwich, plenty of food and drink and participatory shanty singing on Saturday night.

There’s still JUST time to book into Sunday lunch at Christchurch Sailing Club on 15th February.
Orders go in on Friday, 6th February!
The planned RNLI tour at the end of February has been cancelled, due to lack of interest.
Please do tell us what events you would like to see and we’ll do our best to organise them.
Then the start of the new sailing season is round the corner, with our first on-the-water meeting at Newtown in early May.
